Italian Renaissance Alive
As Creative Director, I led the vision for Italian Renaissance Alive, transforming centuries of artistic brilliance into an immersive, multi-sensory experience. This journey through Europe’s cultural rebirth showcases masterpieces by Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Botticelli, and Caravaggio, brought to life with large-scale projections and a powerful operatic score.
Developed with Museo Leonardo da Vinci in Rome, the experience features hands-on interactions with Leonardo’s inventions, rare pages from the Codex Atlanticus, and an exploration of Renaissance art, architecture, and innovation. From Florence to Milan, Italian Renaissance Alive blends history with cutting-edge storytelling, inviting visitors of all ages to step into the past like never before.

Entrance Experience / Father of Flight
The entrance featured an archway inspired by the Renaissance, leading visitors into the exhibition. Large light boxes showcased the main subjects Leonardo da Vinci is famous for. Next, visitors came to the "Father of Flight" section, where handcrafted replicas of da Vinci’s flying machine designs were dramatically displayed against a backdrop of animated clouds projected onto LED panels hanging from the ceiling, creating an immersive environment.
Afterward, visitors entered a room with high-quality replicas of da Vinci’s codices in glass displays. These codices, filled with his intricate drawings and detailed notes, illustrated the depth of his genius. This room emphasized how the preserved ideas in these codices are vital to his enduring legacy, offering visitors a close look at the brilliance of his intellectual contributions.

Exploring Leonardo's Work
This section invites visitors to explore Leonardo da Vinci’s extraordinary work through four unique experiences:
01. The Secrets of Mona Lisa: In partnership with renowned French optical engineer Pascal Cotte, this exhibit reveals hidden layers beneath the Mona Lisa using his L.A.M. scientific imagery technique. Visitors can uncover these concealed details and gain new insights into one of the world’s most iconic paintings.
02. Leonardo’s Art: A gallery showcasing replicas of all of Leonardo’s known paintings, arranged in chronological order. This display allows visitors to follow his artistic evolution and gain a deeper understanding of his life through his masterpieces.
03. Exploring the Human Anatomy: Featuring large-scale prints of Leonardo’s intricate anatomy sketches, this section highlights his detailed studies of the human body, offering a rare opportunity to examine these remarkable drawings up close.
04. The Vitruvian Man Interactive Experience: Created in collaboration with a technology agency, this interactive exhibit lets visitors compare their own body proportions to Leonardo’s Vitruvian Man. Using cameras and AR technology, guests can engage with the concept of divine proportions in a hands-on and immersive way.

Leonardo's Machines
This section brings Leonardo da Vinci’s inventive brilliance to life with a comprehensive showcase of handcrafted recreations of his machine designs. The exhibit is divided into five key categories—Aquatic and Hydraulic, Mechanical Principles, Civil Engineering, Music and Optics, and War Machines—allowing visitors to explore his groundbreaking contributions across multiple disciplines. Each category features meticulously crafted models that offer a tangible connection to his visionary ideas.
The layout is thoughtfully designed to guide visitors through the displays in a sequential flow, ensuring they can fully appreciate the depth and breadth of Leonardo’s inventions. This structured approach creates an immersive and educational experience, providing deeper insight into his genius as both an inventor and engineer.

The Codex Atlanticus
As the exhibition's grand finale, we showcased original manuscripts from the Codex Atlanticus, Leonardo’s most extensive collection of writings, on loan from Milan’s Biblioteca Ambrosiana. I designed the room to highlight these historic documents, collaborating with museum specialists to create climate-controlled displays.
A dimly lit atmosphere with focused lighting emphasized key details, fostering a sense of intimacy and reverence. This immersive design ensured visitors could deeply connect with Leonardo’s genius, making the final section a truly unforgettable experience.
